We played Zubotta a ton of times on our show so might as well point people to the direction of the most excellent label that puts out one of the coolest records we have got a chance to play on our show. Check out Drip Audio.com for news about Zubotta and some other really cool bands from right here in Vancouver, BC like LaConnor and Tights.
Planetarium in Your Living Room
Sega Toys have shown off one of the coolest geek gadgets at the recent Tokyo Toy Fair. It is called the Homestar and it displays planetarium style shows in your living room. In other words, you get a starry night with out traveling to the beach. So far it is only available in Japan, but I still sooooo want one.

In plans to modernize the school curriculum in Britain, the British Film Institute has delivered a list of films to Government Curriculum Advisers for inclusion in school curriculum. RIP Scotty
James Doohan who played Scotty on the original Star Trek passed on the other day. He was 85. Geekdom mourns the loss of greatness.

So all of you listeners who want to email us about anything you can do that. Very easy business: jevon@hiscifi.com is my email address and irma@hiscifi.com is Irma’s. So tell us what you think about us, suggest topics, or just say hello. We are looking forward to hearing from all of you.
Shows are up!
You can now download from torrents.kodekoan.com and rock out to our shows whenever you want. There should be an rss set up, but I am not sure if it is working. The shows should be available from the site soon too so get ready for that. In the mean time flood the Bittorrent for all your needs. If that is not enough for you check out Mininova.org for this week’s show!
Welcome to The Internets!!
Hello everyone and welcome to the wonderful world of Hi Sci Fi. For those of you who don’t know, this is a geek show that runs on CJSF 90.1 FM from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm Pacific Standard Time, or 0:00 to 1:00 UTC, which can be listened to live over at Shoutcast.com. This site is going to allow us to further explore our whims and schemes, but it will also further reinforce our new commitment to podcasting and the internetification of our little show.
DeVotchka = Fusion = Awesome!
by Irma Arkus
Mix of Eastern European folk, jazz and Romani sounds with a good dance beats, gets you the DeVotchka, aka. girl in Russian.
Burlesque band following Dita von Teese, DeVotchka broke the mold in 2003 with Una Volta, but its following SuperMelodrama does not dissappoint either.
Check out DeVotchka here.
The Block Party Is Jiggy Time
by Irma Arkus
The Block Party rocks, and it made us dance this week in the studio. They are multicultural mavens, who represent the hip the cool and the strangely sub/urban sounds of grown-up garage bands.
Listen up! The Block Party’s “Silent Alarm” is worth paying a listen to. And we highly encourage you to do so here.
