it sucks that the regular person on the street has no idea about what is goin on with the internet these days, the large companys that are trying to steal our freedoms seem to be doina very good job with keeping it out of the major media…seems so weird to me,why isnt this stuff all over the news worldwide??
i hate them so much!!stop trying to f*** with my freedom!!

re: Save Canada
This isn’t only about Canada. This shit is happening everywhere, and we, like generations before us have to fight for our rights, otherwise, we’ll lose them.

i totaly agree,but people
i totaly agree, but people just dont seem to be aware of it.
i feel scared for my internet every day.and wonder why for example it was just elections here and none of the parties(i checked several of them on the web)had a standpoint on internet freedom or net neutrality.made it very hard for me to vote, since i had no idea who would protect me.
and i wonder how are we(regular people) gone fight against the large companys?
they have loads of money they are willing to throw away,i do not have loads of money i can miss.they have fancy lawyers i dont know much about the law.they are willing to sue and risk things,i am very willing to make a stand but dont wana go to jail or get a crazy fine over dling some stuff they have the rights to…

re: i totaly agree,but people
well shit. If we can’t make a difference, then who can? What are we supposed to do with a two-party crap system in US? Platitudes. It’s like voting for the same guy, or just trying to avoid the worst case scenario.
Tovetrut I can’t agree more, but jesus man, I have to believe that there are more people who do understand and read this stuff, and are afraid of losing their rights and freedoms.
These fuckers are trying to sell us down the river. And I am not up for being sold right now.
Some say that we’re supposed to fight by simply voting with our dollars, but that’s shit, because it doesn’t make a spot of difference. I remember watching the Walmart doc, where shareholders show up at the meeting and express their “disagreements” only to be dismissed.
Voting with your dolalrs is crap, because we don’t have any dollars. The guys on the top are skimming the dollars, hence they have the greatest amount of VOTES.
What we can do is become redicalised. I know that communism is a bad word, something that we spit on, but it seems to me that in the 50s and 60s people had to go to JAIL to get their points across. We have to organise and fight for what we believe.
\
Maybe tovetrut, we can get our friends together, and write online, maybe do more than just place a comment once a week on HiScifi (btw - I love this show of yours).
We have to DO SOMETHING.

We have to DO SOMETHING.
ty joeblocky, and glad u enjoy the series(i figure ur talking about the anime) :)
and, when i see what is happening with the freedoms people have fought and died for in history…we are now losing them slowly.
i often thought i should do something about this, but i lack the legal knowledge,i see what i think is right and what i think is wrong, such as:
u see some star on cribs showing of his 10cars he never drives and his new helicopter and way to large and expensive house,a week later u hear that star crying that the people are stealing from him by downloading his music, while the people who he claims should pay him barely get by every month. and ofcourse this is nothing compared to the record companys who are probebly pushing the star to say those things and who would gladly stoop as low as to sue individual people who they feel violated their copyright.
i see such things and i know that its just so wrong, but i also know they have the law on their side :s :(
and i actualy think irma(and many other sites out there)does an awsome job of informing the public,i send friends to hi-sci-fi often several times a week because of interesting articles.
i will give ur post some thought…i realy feel we should all try our hardest to speak up against what we think is wrong, but i cant promise anything.my large gaps of knowledge are holding me back :p

re: We have to DO SOMETHING.
why don’t you seek out members of your local community and try to do a townhall meeting or a virtual message board, and get organized.
the law and the money may be on their side, but if you have reason and substantial number of people on your side, you may win the game.
this site is getting more interesting by the minute.

re: We have to DO SOMETHING.
Actually I was referring to HiSciFi, but I did check out the show you named and it was really good so thanks for the reference.
I think your reply is really hitting it on the head when you say that the whole system is faulty and onyl reserved for the rich. you are right - even concepts of justice have been perverted by money.
For one I am discusted by the fact that so many companies are living off taxpayers and at the same time feeding us media crap about celebrities. Sure, it’s nie to look at Sookie Stackhouse / Anna Paquin but knowing whether she;s got cellulite or whom she’s dating is irrelevant to my life and I could give a crap about it.
This copyright thing is serious though. They’ve been suing the pants off of people for downloading a few mp3s. shitty ones at that. the kind that should have been given out for free or even paid people to listen to.
The Pirate Party win is important. I am thinking that maybe it’s time to start something like it because our two parties in US are major lulz. Even Obama who has promised all kinds of just and nice things has lied through his teeth and is pretty much the status quo dude in the WH.
I think its time to change things. When people voted for Nader as an independent candidate I thought that was lunacy. Now not so much. we need more independent candidates.
Also, WTF is up with elections. This shit happens every four years. I want my interests protected by ME throughout the four years, not just asked to vote once. Soon there will be so few people interested in voting this shit won’t count for nothing.
