Clone Wars in August is reporting that the tv animated series will initially see a film release this August in an attempt to jumpstart the series on Cartoon Network and other Warner cable stations such as TNT. This series will be animated in “3D” which is a fancy way of saying “think Pixar.” Judging by the photo on the variety page, which I have posted here it does not look like good “3D” animation at all. In fact, judging by the picture, Beast Wars had better in the 1990s. Of course the jury is out on that, as well as on this series as a whole. It plans on expanding on the storyless fight sequences that comprised the original animated Clone War story, and will have to do everything it can to escape its cash cow status. From a business standpoint though it is a major departure for Lucasarts in that they are dealing with Warner instead of Fox for the first time. Big deal if you ask me. After the sorry state of affairs that was the new trilogy, there is nothing that has anything to do with Star Wars that can get me excited.
