Canada Elections and You: Conservatives Won, Now What?

The elections in Canada spell doom and gloom for issues such as copyright reform, net neutrality, and criminalization of p2p traffic.

Mere days after the release of election results which overwhelmingly favoured Conservative Party, now holding majority, and that of the unexpected incumbent, the NDP with Jack Layton, standing as the new opposition, the ISPs have reversed their decision to ease the previously suggested bandwidth caps.

The win for the Conservatives means that they not only have absolute authority and power to institute new laws, but that those bills they previously pursued less successfully are now considered a new government mandate supported by voters.

As kind and as supportive the NDP may be, as a minority it has limited powers in parliament.

So get ready Canada. Welcome to your new dictatorship, and start getting used to those 60GB/mo.
